Way to bulky to use, so I tend not to use it. Also noticed unless I hold it exactly right, it doesn't work. Certainly too large to take in a suitcase, which was why I bought it. Search for travel size if you are looking to sanitize your hotel room.

Unfortunately, this wand is not something you can be absolutely sure of it working, unless you are a chemist and analyze the result. But for the peace of mind I get from faith in the product, I like it.

A few years ago in San Diego, CA there was an emergency situation with fire outbreaks close enough to metropolitan area to create a toxic environment. My wife is susceptible to asthma and it made her very ill. In fact, our miniature maltese also became sick as well. I knew I had to find a top of the line air purifier asap. I researched many products and chose the IQ Air Healthpro compact home air purifier. It was expensive but the health of our family comes first. This is definately a worthy investment. My wife has severe alergies and used to sneeze constantly in the house, during allergy tests she pretty much came up positive for everything. She used to get allergy shots once a month, but no longer after this unit. Neither of us sneeze at all anymore. I also have a dog and smell is no longer an issue. Only problem is you can not use an air freshener in the house because it will have no odor. I have tried many air cleaner products and this is by far the best. It is big, its ugly and expensive to replace the filters, but I would pay double, worth every single cent.

1. It's not quiet, but it works
I've had this unit for a week now, and I'm pleased with the results I have got out of it. My bedroom is only about 140sq feet, but since this is rated for larger rooms than mine, I am able to run it on Medium rather than High and still get some nice filtering from it. I run it on Low while I sleep, turn it off when I wake up, and run it on Medium or High for a couple of hours before I go to bed each night. I try to keep my door shut while it is on.

I'm an asthmatic and allergic to my two cats, and have been suffering for the last month (we have had them for a couple of years now). I haven't been able to figure out why I've suddenly begun having symptoms again, but it has been problematic to say the least, and I've had to use my inhaler daily, as I typically wake up with asthma symptoms. Have to disagree with some of those who feel this unit is excessively noisy. I ended up buying one after having a store clerk plug in a demo model. It is quieter on slow speed but louder on high speed. I would say the noise levels are about the equivalent of a variable speed window unit air conditioner. If you're looking for dead silent operation, this unit won't do it, but if you can sleep through the background noise of an air conditioner, then this purifier shouldn't be any more intrusive. What sold me was the fact that the filters don't need to be replaced-simply vacuum every few months. On cheaper units, the replacement filters cost almost as much as the purifier.

Less noisy and worth it.
While being quieter than most, it still does its job!

We use it in our family room where our quite active fireplace is. The three speeds are a definite plus, but we only really use the low and high speeds.

High speed definitely moves its share of air, but don't plan on watching TV while it's running unless you raise the volume quite a bit. With the amount of dust the fireplace puts out, the unit has definitely reduced the amount of dust around our home.

1. Has a bit of a smell of its own but otherwise, it's the real deal
I'm in my second year of dealing with my neighbor's unbelievably bitter, nasty fireplace smoke. He's down on his luck and burns wood in an old stove. Things are so bad, I may buy him a new furnace but he hasn't paid his mortgage and I don't feel like giving the bank a new central heating system.

What you need know about this unit. I assume you know anything under $350-400 is worthless. Oreck, Sharper Image, Seen On TV, Ronco, Popeil etc. are of no value whatsoever. Honeywell units with charcoal have the right idea but at that price, you don't get enough charcoal to last for more than a few weeks. I started my odyssey with a AustinAir which is pretty good for the money but the wood smoke killed the 2-year filter in 6 weeks. (Note that AA now has a HealthMate Plus that has potassium permanganate and should do a better job with smoke). 2. Nothing is better
I'm puzzled by the reviews with one star for this product. This machine worth every penny that I paid for it and the filters. It doesn't just clean the air a bit, it changed my life. As for the claim of it not sucking perfume out the air -- it will suck ANY chemical out of the air. It can't suck perfume out of fabric or clothing though. You will absolutely tell a remarkable difference in the air you breathe. I feel fantastic since using it! Keep in mind that it can only cover so many square feet. I have a studio apartment and it works great. Otherwise, you'll need to let it run at night and maybe keep the bedroom door closed. You'll love it though.

Works well for my asthma .
I have a lot of sensitivity to smoke. I live in a development with a lot of fireplaces. These days people use fireplaces to save money on high fuel bills. Fireplace smoke is just about the worst irritant for me. I have 2 of these machines if I fire them up they work for me. No other machine I have owned have worked as well. They cost but they work. I can be inhaler free if I choose to. The machine costs less then steroids do plus no side effects. If you know your neighbors fireplace bothers you this is worth a try. I went back and looked at the older review of one star the buyer states he got 4 charcoal filters for 1200 bucks. This review is not accurate. The filters contain far more chemical then charcoal. I know because I built my own charcoal/carbon filters from activated charcoal. While my activated charcoal filters help with fireplace smoke they are not good enough. 1. Works great and had excellent customer service
I purchased the Blueair 650e Smokestop from Sylvane through Amazon and it arrive quickly. The air purifier works great and I simply put it on auto. The sensers in the unit occasionally turn the fan on high, but 95% or more of the time, it runs quietly on low or medium speed - neither are very noisy. Even the high speed is not objectionable in the bedroom, since we know it will slow down in 10 or 15 minutes. I'd estimate the high speed noise as about the same as a window airconditioner running on high, but without the low frequency rumble of the airconditioner's compressor. I've had asthma in the past and bought the Blueair purifier when I stopped taking Advair. I've had no issues since making the switch and feel better than ever.

I'll also say I think the sensors are very much worth it. Otherwise, I'd never know when I can turn the unit down. With the sensors, I leave it all to the machine and it works perfectly. Typically, our two Great Danes come in the bedroom...

if you are going the trouble of mitigating a problem or concern with the air in your home not buying the best product available is wasting what ever is spent on a lesser product.

the added expense of this model is clearly value added in the controls, noise levels, and design of intake and exhaust.

the replacement filter cost is comparable to the single filter 400 series.

I thought a bad solenoid was the problem with my Honeywell humidifier. It wasn't. A hard water deposit had plugged a the pinhole sized inlet on the fitting that goes into my solenoid. Once I turned off the power and water, remove the water line and the inlet fitting; I cleaned out the pinhole and the little black screen inside the silver fitting and could blow through it. Put it all back together and the solenoid was was working like a champ again. It is awesome that this solenoid is available here, just make sure that that is really the problem first. I fixed mine for $0.00.

2. Replacement valve for central humidifier
When my Honeywell central humidifier continued to flow water even when turned off, Honeywell customer service helped me to troubleshoot it, with the result we concluded that the solenoid valve needed to be replaced. Honeywell gave me the part number to order and even a link to the Amazon listing. After checking other sources for the same valve, it became apparent that Amazon had the best price and delivery, so I placed the order. The item was delivered earlier than projected and installed easily.

I bought this from HomeDepot for $240. I bought this over their smaller $120 model because this has UV light cleaner + also eliminates Fungi, certain bacteria and certain viruses.

The unit is very quiet and has nice features like LCD lit display that shuts off on its own so it doesn't bother you at night, oscillation with a very wide range (about 170 degrees ) which is enough to cover all areas in a room, a timer that can run up to 15 hours I think, 12 levels of cleaning power and an ionizer.

It has 2 reusable HEPA Filters in it (type C) and a couple of washable filters that you can clean every 2-3 months with water. The HEPA filter can be vacuumed and reused. Or you can toss it and buy a new one for $24 from HomeDepot (or cheaper on Amazon).

The unit does send nice cool and fresh air and the air quality does feel better.

My family member would rub their eye when they entered the bedroom upstairs. I think it may be because of either mold...

Had my 'c' model for a bit now and I am very happy, the bedroom is definitely clearer and I am waking up much more refreshed and less congested. The unit is well built and quiet. I researched the difference between the 'c' and 'e' model and found they are identical except the 'c' has an added feature which is an ionizer booster control. The 'c' was only slightly higher in price, less than ten bucks, and I liked that feature so I chose the 'c' model. I shopped around on the internet and found the price range was large, with this price from Amazon being in the middle, I actually found the unit for 108 and it arrived in 2 days! Shop around a bit and you will save even more. Looks like Amazon has the edge on the replacement filter and UV lamp though- but they are designed to only be replaced yearly with everyday use.

2. Nice purifier. Priced well. Read before you listen to low scores.
I purchased both the C and D models. The D model supposedly has a slightly beefier fan. I had read the reviews and noted a low score review that talked about not having enough airflow to even hold a paper at the inlet. Note that this product ships with the filter in place. The filter must be removed and a piece of cardboard removed from it. If you don't do that, of course it won't pass air. I say that because I performed the "see if the suction can hold the paper" test and it did just fine.

That said, any purifier review is going to be somewhat subjective unless you test it under labratory conditions. I have no idea how well this unit cleans the air except to make these factual notes:
1. After a month of use (C model) in our bedroom (and we keep a clean house), I looked at the air filter and it was coated with dust. I suppose this is a good thing. I plan to vaccum the dust off to extend the filter life. But it proves it does something. Our bedroom is quite...

just a few thoughts about this air purifier- it's not a bad air purifier, it just doesn't live up to the promises the manufacturer gives - it says it on the box - for rooms up to 500 sq.feet , well i bought it for my living room which is aprox. 400 sq feet - it was a total waste of time and hopes. then i moved it to the bedroom - about 200 sq ft. - hmmmmmm after 3 days of non stop running on the highest setting i noticed a slight difference in the quality of the air .Then i opened the cover and there was some dust on the filter, meaning - it was doing something but, well not quite good or at least not quite as advertised.

I'm giving this product 2 stars because it's relatively cheap and in my smallest bedroom - about 120 sq.ft it did a good job.

In conclusion - very underpowered product and NOT suitable for large rooms. the UV light is a good addition and the ozone function is nice as well and hopefully will do there job but this is not an air purifier for 500...

1. BREATHE BETTER AND SPEND LESS
I've been running the older version of this air purifier 24 X 7 for over 10 years...maybe 12. It is backed up against a wall in a vaulted-ceiling room between a piano and organ where cats like to play. It takes up very little space and consumes a great deal of dust and hair. The exhaust blows straight up the wall which is perfect for this location. Recently, it began emitting a high-pitch, undulating squeal. I assumed that the sealed bearing on the motor shaft was wearing out. So, I ordered this new Hunter Air Purifier. In the mean time, I placed the old squeaky cleaner on its back and soaked the motor shaft with CRC Heavy Duty silicone spray while turning the shaft with my hand for 5 minutes. That was a month ago and it is still running as smoothly and quietly as new. The new cleaner is still in the box, however, I did test it to make certain that it was in good working order.

2. Great Air Purifier
I cannot believe what a great job this air purifier does. It is so quite that you forget that it is there. I have asthma and purchased this hoping it would help. At first I thought that it was not working but gradually I started feeling better and the dust (I live in a leaky old house)has gradually dissapeared from the living area. The only drawback is having to clean the filters often but that is easier than dusting ceilings!

I have tried many different types of air purifiers until I got one from Hunter. Initially I got one for the basement so it would not get the musty odor. I liked it so much that I got one for each room in the house. If anyone is allergic to cats, I run the purifier for an hour or two before they come over and they don't react to my cats. Smoke, cooked fish odor, burnt toast etc. These purifiers are awesome. Just be sure to vacuum the outer charcoal filter so the inner filter lasts longer. You will be amazed. I recommend the one with an ionizer-you get the fresh air after a rain smell. 5 stars for sure....

1. Made a huge difference in our home air quality
At the recommendation of my sister, who has bought the Paralda first - we purchased the air purifier for our home. My mother suffers from asthma and terrible allergies and lives with us - so anything we can do to make her more comfortable is worth it.

The Paralda is long and slender yet compact - it easily fit in our living room and didn't stick out like a sore thumb. It is very quiet and has varying speeds. It also had a UV lamp that zaps bacteria - and anything the HEPA air filter doesn't get. I noticed the air seemed fresher and there was less dust on the furniture. It felt like the pristine air you usually find in the dentist office - fresh, cleaner, very comfortable. The Paralda is not noisy at all compared to our Ionic Breeze air purifier we used to keep in my mother's bedroom. The control pad was very easy to figure out - even my mother could manage it on her own.

2. Great air purifier but user controls lack, re-review after 2 years
I have owned two of Paralda units for about a month now. Generally they do what they are supposed to do and they are great at cleaning the air. Here are some things I noted:

o The units are really quiet at low speeds (1 and 2). One of the units is somewhat louder, emitting some low volume whine.

o The capability to program the settings for time and speed is great but be warned that there is no settings backup capability built in. One will lose the settings when the power is disconnected or lost or when the filter has been unlocked.

o The manual documents that you can switch between Manual and Programmed mode by touching the PGM key. I found this not to be the case: one can switch from Programmed mode into Manual by turning the machine OFF and ON again but there is no way to go back to Programmed mode, except for going through the entire programming cycle, again.

o Alen's customer support is mostly non existent. Their only response to my...

Aesthetically pleasing air purifier with one flaw...
I agree with the other reviews that this air purifier looks and functions great. I feel like using it has minimized my allergies. However, when the filter is on, there is also a small light on. I cannot figure out how to turn it off after six months and I have concluded that you cannot turn it off (please comment if I'm wrong and include instructions for turning it off!!). I bought this for my bedroom and I like to have it on overnight. However, the light makes it more difficult. I still gave it 4 stars, b/c I otherwise like it.

4 stars for the air cleaner, 1 star for out-of-warranty repairs. I have owned 2 Austin units since 1996, the full size HM400 and the 'Jr' HM200. They do a pretty fair job of filtration, although there are better units that have come on the market since these came out. The filters do not last 5 years, more like 3 before they start to lose effectivness. That was still pretty good, until some of the better competition started to arrive. (I bought 2 competitors units, and they work better at filtering the air, and are about the same in filter costs, but I kept the Austins for use in other rooms.)

Overall, I was satisfied with these, until they needed out-of-warranty repair. The Austin HM 200 needed shipment to the factory just before the 5 year warranty was up, and was repaired under warranty, so I wasn't aware of potential out-of-warranty problems. I recently replaced the filter on the larger Austin HM400, when I noticed the blower started running more slowly, and varying...

I searched through a large selection of air filters trying to optimize price, utility, reputation, and ease of use (I don't have time to replace some components every 6 months and other components every 3 months, etc). I decided on the Austin Air Healthmate Air Purifier. From there, it was a search for a reasonable retailer. Due to price (along with free shipping) and Amazon backing, I chose All Seasons Health.

The product arrived quickly and in perfect condition--I would definitely order other products through this retailer.

I pulled the Healthmate out of the box and after reading the instructions, I plugged it in and away it went (yep, that was it). The best air filter I ever bought - worth the money!
The Austin Air Healthmate is the best I've ever owned. One large unit is enough for our entire house. It reduces (or even eliminates) odors from our cat's litter box and makes the stale air in our home fresher when we return from a couple of days away. We run it in the bedroom at night and wake up feeling healthier than we did before we got one of these. It's quiet on the lowest setting, and a little loud but very powerful on the highest setting. There's easy maintenance (just vacuum the outside once a month). Replacement filters are a little on the expensive side (around $200), but well worth it. The salesperson that sold us ours said we'd have to replace the filter every five years. We run ours constantly and had to replace it after three years. I think the expense is still worth it, as the quality of this product cannot be matched by less expensive purifiers.

My allergist recommended an air purifier for my home to help me manage my asthma. I shopped for it online but ended up buying it elsewhere. I have had this one for about a month and it's made a big difference. It's not loud and because it's a tower I can put it in an area of the room where it's not in the way...in fact, I forget its there. I live in Oregon and spring is a terrible allergy season. I've been very happy with the improvement in my health and can only assume that my purifier is at least in part the reason.

This is the second BlueAir air cleaner I have purchased. The first was a 500 series cleaner, which I love. I decided to add a second, smaller, BlueAir for the bedroom. 1. Overall solid build quality
I am please with the machine, but it was damaged in the process of shipment. When I received it, there were several dings on the leading outside edge of the front pieces of acrylic. Other than that, I have had no problems with it. I have only run the ozone while away from the house and it seems to deodorize the dog smell that was there when I moved in. I would definitely recommend.

I like this, I bought it at Home Depot. It is small, very portable, lightweight, and quiet. I keep mine on high at all times and don't think it's that noisy. For the benefits, it's totally worth a little noise. My house had a mice infestation and I found a mouse in my room... The dander built up in the air very quickly to the point of being suffocating... I barely have any allergies, but this was just terrifying. So this little machine became a necessity. It's definitely helpful and seems very clean, smooth and simple. It has an ionizer that sends out negative ions that attach to particles in the room, making them easier to collect into the purifier. I keep that on at all times as well, and the night light is a nice addition. I keep moving mine around, from chair to shelf to floor and back.

However, it claims to filter 95% of dander, fur, etc. i thought this meant that 95% of dander would be filtered out of the air in my room, but now i think it just means 95% of the...

I have had this for a couple years and I love it! I think it is well worth the cost (which isn't that much) to replace filters. I have asthma and it collects more dust and dander than you can imagine. I have a non shedding dog and a small cat and although I do have to dust I don't do it nearly as much as before. It is amazing just how much "stuff" the pre filter collects. I change that 2-3 months just to be safe. I would say definately purchase this product.

1. It could be better
I needed another air purifier for a second room and settled for this one. (my first one has long been out of production) I wish that I could say that it was a smart move, but it really has not turned out that way. As one who has chronic sinus problems/allergies, I can tell within a few minutes if one of these so-called purifiers is doing its job. This unit actually caused my sinuses to go into overdrive on every single use no matter how long it ran within the confined room. Part of the problem is the lack of ability to turn off the negative ion generator, which no matter how well designed, can still produce small amounts of toxic ozone that can damage mucus and respiratory tissue. For my ultra-sensitive sinuses, it triggers a non-stop sneezing frenzy the moment it is turned on. Oddly enough, it does allow you to turn the UV lamp on/off, but again you can't for the ionizer. I would suggest searching elsewhere for a unit that allows you to do this.

First impression - decent built, simple layout of the buttons and easy to use. Its tower form is probably ideal for tabletop, but i have no problem to place directly onto the floor. I opened the back panel where the HEPA filter is located and it seems very straight forward to remove and replace. There is 3 different modes it can be set: High, medium, low. The low and medium is probably ok for night time. The high mode is probably good when you really need some fresh air. It seems to work fine so far.

I have searched for months for the best air purifier and I believe I have found it.
On the noise level from low to high is no different than a hotel A/C unit running on low to high.

Used it for two weeks now. Handled years of cellar dust and cat box odors in an older house. It perforrms as described.

I had a Hunter before purchasing this air cleaner. The hunter did good for its time, but was getting old and not cleaning the air as it should.

I have had this running 24 hrs per day for last couple days that I had this. It does wonders in cleaning the air and odors. I used the ozone on first day and you do need to air out room. I will need to take out one of the ozone plates due to size of our apt. and this pruifier is for a 3000 sq ft area. Thats about 10 times bigger than our 1 bedroom apt.

Other reviews said you get a smell like after a thunderstorm. I would not say this is true. The oder without the ozone, is noticable when first entering the apt. but you dont notice it much after a min or two. And the apt does smell alot better. I do smoke and inside the apt so I gotten this to eliminate the smoke odor and it does that very well. Better than the hunter ever did.

I recently was diagnosed with asthma and am wheezing at night. Also, my son has also been having a bad case of eczema and found out the dust and pollen played a role in his outbreaks. That night I gave it a try and didn't use my maintenance inhaler before I went to bed. I turned it on for the first night and in the morning my husband noticed I wasn't wheezing at all that night. 1. Very nice small unit
This little purifier looks good, has three fan speeds, and a "ion" mode that can be turned off. The HEPA filter gets changed every 6 months and costs $20. To get the "lifetime warranty" you need to sign up for a filter delivery program. This may not be too bad if you use the unit all the time, but it is not too clear how to stop the program once initiated. My first unit was noisy, so I requested a replacement. The replacement arrived promptly, and works well. On low fan setting, it is very quiet. Higher settings circulate a LOT of air, and should be good if you have a serious problem.

2. Excellent air filter for the price
I received my first unit from Alen and it was slightly defective. The power switch worked, but the speed and Ion setting were flakey. After running the unit (stuck on low and no ion) the unit suddenly started working. I emailed Alen Product Support and they shipped me out another unit within 24 hours. I emailed them back to say it was working fine, but they insisted I get the 2nd unit anyway.

The 2nd unit worked as described and didn't have any problems out of the box. I am giving this product 5-stars based on its overall performance and the excellent Alen customer service.

I would also point out that this is not a "small" unit. At first, I thought it was meant for a desk or small stand, but this is 18" and a sleek 4-5" in width. The unit weighs next to nothing (and there's a smart cubby-handle) if you need to move it around often.

Removing the filters is a cinch and anyone can do this. However, Alen does recommend using gloves when changing...

Smoke and mirrors?
Okay, several months ago I decided to see if an air purifier would do one tenth of what companies claim they do and today I'm scratching my head. Is it working? Are the odors in my home reduced? Is my environment cleaner and healthier? Beats the heck out me. I asked several people if they could tell a difference, and only one person said they could (all stated that my home odors were not objectionable to begin with, but hey, what are they going to say? My house stinks?). This product is placed mainly in one fairly small room (about 100 sq ft) and my only purpose was to have this room (where I keep my computers) clean and fresh. The following will list some of my doubts, some of the things I don't like, and some of the things I do like.

1. Give it a chance
If you read the description you would notice it seems to be nothing more than a ceramic heater with a nightlight. If you aren't sensitive to mold you won't notice any decrease in allergens. Bacteria and virus's are just an added bonus of the heat. If it used a fan the air would move too quickly through the chamber and there wouldn't be enough dwell time to kill the mold, bacteria, and virus's.
I have an extremely bad mold allergy and first came across this when I went to the hospital for surgery and they had one in every room. I noticed my allergies were much better but attributed it to the meds. When I left the hospital they all came back. I asked my surgeon if I could possibly borrow one of the units he has in his office and he agreed (Airpura P3000). It took about 3 weeks for me to notice a difference but IT DOES WORK. For comparisons sake I used it in my 35x18 bedroom, always keep the doors shut and I do use an air purifier so that might help move air though the unit. After...

2. Fumes from Plastic
I also got ill from the plastic fumes being emitted from the "emission free" Airfree P1000. I tried leaving it on for a couple of days to see if the fumes would burn off, but it's just as bad. After reading the review that someone else left it on for 2 weeks, and it was still emitting the fumes, I'm going to return it.

I was skeptical at first
I was skeptical at first but was won over by this product. I originally bought the air purifier to help our family's allergies and sinus problems. It was hard to believe that a product that has no filters, nothing to clean or wash off, could actually work. My brother-in-law who has a severe allergy to dogs has never been able to spend more than an hour or two at our house. Since we got our air purifier, he has been able to spend several hours at our house without any symptoms or discomfort. I'm a believer!

1. VERY quiet, energy efficient, but for small rooms, not medium
There's really two things that I care about when I evaluate something like a HEPA filter: how well it works, how much it costs to operate. This Honeywell device does great on the first, and is better than average for the second.

How well it works

* I've had lots of air filters over the years, but this one is even quieter than my Hamilton Beach on "Whisper Quiet" setting. This thing is remarkably quiet. Absolutely fantastic.
* It's tough to evaluate the actual allergen removal of this device, since I don't really have a way to measure it before and after. I do have a dust allergy, but it wasn't bothering me before I set up the filter, so adding the filter won't tell me much.
* I put this device in my cat's litter box room and there is definitely a noticeable difference in the odor, but that's not what the allergen remover is really marketed for, so I really am not holding it to a high standard.
* There's also the minor...

2. CLeaner air nice for bedrooms.
Having many allergies and asthma I have had many HEPA filters and Honeywell's have always been the best. I keep 2 in my basement family room year round. This unit is in my bedroom I have it running on Allergen and Turbo and it really is moving the air in just 1 hour I went back in and I can tell a difference, just feels fresher. It is too loud for me to run on high to sleep by so I plan to run it during the day and turn it off at night. The controls on the top are very easy to use and read. The unit has a 5 year warranty which is really good for an item in this price point. I have Honeywell units well over 10 yrs old still going strong.

I have had many doctors over the years tell me that I must have HEPA filters in the home. The elecrostatic ones just don't do it for me. I look forward to less sneezing as I was needing to replace my bedroom unit that died some months back.

Compact Size, Lots of Easy-To Operate Options, and Does an Impressive Job
The air in my house is definitely fresher and cleaner after running the Honeywell True HEPA Allergen Remover. I found that I'm taking deeper and easier breaths because the air is just nicer to breathe. This is allergy season and the air has been heavy and full of allergens. I love breathing in the air after the Allergen Remover has cleaned it.

I like the compact size of the Honeywell True HEPA Allergen Remover. The instructions are easy to read. The unit has a number of options. It's easy to switch from General Cleaning to Allergen or the Germ removal option just by pressing the button once or twice. There's a TURBO option in case you are impatient, like me, and want fast results. It's A LOT noisier though, so unless you decide to use it for "white noise", you probably won't select the Turbo setting in your bedroom. I suppose you could imagine yourself sitting next to a huge waterfall as you sit back with a cup of coffee and read. You wouldn't be able to enjoy watching...

1. Finally A Really Quiet Air Purifier
I've tried at least 5 different brands of HEPA air purifiers (with fan(s)) before finding this one. The number one reason that I disliked all my previous purifiers is NOISE. I'm quite sensitive to certain types of noise, including fan noise. At one point I gave up getting a fanned purifier and got a passive electrostatic-plate purifier for years. However, the passive purifier never works to my expectation (it still works, just not very efficiently).

But after getting a cat for 1.5 yrs, I decided it's really the time to use a more efficient air purifier. After going through many reviews and ratings on Amazon and many other websites, I still bumped into two disappointments (Honeywell HHT-011 and Bionaire BAP-1700) -- it seems that my tolerance of noise is much less than average users. Then I found MicroLux ML4000DCH at the 3rd try. I was very skeptical at the beginning because I can't find any info about MicroLux on the web at all, but due to desperation and reasonable...

2. Get this if you have funky smells to get rid of....
Ok so we purchased a camp recently and with the funky smells like the must and the old owners must have been addicted to Moth Balls, yuck. I took a chance on buying this unit to help. Wow I was very impressed, we locked up camp and left a ceiling fan on High and put this unit on its highest setting for an entire week. When we returned the high smell of ozone we shut it off and opened all the windows and went for a walk/hike. When we returned it was amazing no stench of any kind. I really recommend this unit.

THE reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because of 1 thing. The Timer is stupid, don't get me wrong it works but only once. For example if I set it to turn on at 1pm it will turn on at 1pm but if I have it turn off at 3pm it will but not daily its only a 1 time timer. I would like to set it daily forever but it doesn't work that way which really confuses me why. So if you buy the unit, and before work you can turn it on and have it turn off whenever but you have to set...

Just received the unit. The manual is awful - written by a non-English speaker. So here are the missing pieces that I was able to cull from reading Amazon reviewers, reading the manual and by talking to the customer support. (I am giving the machine 5 stars tentatively for it looks/feels good - will revisit after I have more experience with it)

2. 700A vs 780A model comparison
Update 4/10/11: I upgraded my review to 5 stars because the optical sensor is a lot of fun. When my cat walks by, it turns purple. When I cut through the ceiling to install a new air conditioning supply register, it turned red for a while. In quiet mode this is just about silent during bed time.

I have both the 700A and 780A series. The simplicity of the design is very attractive, and the electronic controls are top notch. The light sensor is great for the bedroom so it automatically goes into low speed sleep mode. For us, it looks better on the floor than on the wall because of the depth.

I couldn't tell any difference between my 700A and 780A. Out of curiosity I took some scientific measurements of the sound level and power usage between the two models (I work in aerospace, so this was easy).

Basically the ONLY difference between the two is that the 780A fan will blow more air in Turbo mode. The product specs state that the fan spins faster...

I originally purchased the BigoGS 580 and found the sensors not reliable in my unit. The sensors went from green to red for no apparent reason if I moved it a foot. Instead of getting a replacement I switched to the MinusA2 Spa 700A (toxin remover) due to the 6 stage filtration. I live below two chain smokers and I want to ensure that I have the extra protection. I had the two units for about 2 days to 3 weeks so I can't comment on longevity.

It does a great job removing pollen and odor like the BioGS. It is pretty quiet. I don't even notice it on unless the room is completely silent. I noticed that the silent & quiet modes are more noticeable than the BioGS. I can hear the motor on the MinusA2 whereas on the BioGS I could not unless I was right next to it.

1. Great product
The Hoover WH10200 air purifier is a fantastic product. It is fairly quiet considering the volume of air it moves. The button layout is well designed. It noticeably improves air quality, and filters a lot of dust from the air.

Oh the "high" setting with all options on, it uses about 50 watts.

The only complaint I have is the blue "on" light, which cannot be turned off. It is bright enough that it will light a room with a soft blue glow at night.

2. Purring like a kitten.
After returning another "ionization" air purifier which produced an unpleasant "ozone"..did I say strong!? I mean, I returned the unit within 24 hours. That said, I notice this Hoover with Ionization mode that produced no Ozone. So far 4 days and extremely please with the Hoover with TiO2 Technology. In short cat box odor gone and no ozone. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

EFFECTIVE, QUIET, EFFICIENT
We now live in North Central AZ, at 5000 feet and surrounded by the Tonto National Forest. Even in this reasonably remote area and thin air, airborn offenders are common.

PERCEIVED / ACTUAL EFFECTIVENESS:
I was a semi-skeptic regarding the potential for air cleaners / purifiers to offer any real improvement in room air quality, but it did not take long to see that I was way off base.
One hour after placing this unit into use I sensed a difference. At the four hour mark, we both commented on the notable difference in air quality. After running all night long at low setting, we were both convinced that the unit is indeed remarkable. Two days leter, we are still impressed.
The size and appearance of the unit are very appropriate.

1. Tried many others, this one is the best I've come across
Recently moved from New England to mid-Atlantic area. So although not as dry as the northeast, it gets dry when the temps go down. I hadn't used it for 2 years but dragged it out of the attic when this December/January cold snap hit the D.C. area. It works as well as I remember.

Easy to fill. Just roll it over to the bathroom and use the handheld shower massager to fill it fast. You can also screw a hose adapter on to your kitchen sink and cut an old hose to 4 ft length to fill it really fast. I used a quick release adapter so I didn't have to screw the hose on.

Holds 6 gallons and will dump 6 gallons in to the air over a 24 hour period, which is nice because I only have to fill it once a day (before bed usually). It's nearly silent on low mode. Hygrometer is accurate and easy to set. I usually set it for 50 and it will shut off when the house gets to 55% (it's a little off). Running it on high will dump a lot of moisture in the air quick. 2. Very Good large humidifier
I've been using a large whole house or console humidifier for about 5 years. This is by far the easiest to refill out of any I have owned.

Pros-
Very Easy to refill - No screw caps or tanks to carry.
Quiet in low mode
Large water reserve

Cons-
Lid is hard to get on right. Takes some time and patience, but you don't have to take it off to refill the unit.
It is loud on the high setting.

Very disappointing
I had been searching for a humidifier (or humidifiers) for my 1900 SF house, and was excited when I came across this model, as it was compact and not ugly like the console humidifiers I have seen. Floor space in my house is somewhat limited, so I liked the fact that its upright design would allow flexibility in placement. Also, I'd had good luck with Bemis in the past (had two H12 console units, in black, which for some reason Bemis no longer offers), so I thought I'd give this a try. My intent was to order a second one if it worked well, since the output ratings on humidifiers are generally quite overstated and I knew I would need more capacity.

What a disappointment! The unit only has two speeds, and the high speed is LOUD. I received my Winix today, so this is my initial rating and impression.

Like:
- Easy to set up
- Has a remote
- Looks nice
- VERY quiet on low speed
- Moves a lot of air on Turbo

Dislike:
- Cannot shut off Plasmawave
- 3-Stage Filtration vs. 5-Stage in other Winix models
- High and Turbo modes produce a VERY noticable "whistling" noise

To elaborate on my dislikes. Since this unit had a remote, I was hoping that they preserved the on/off feature from other Winix units for the Plasmawave. No such luck. This was a bit of a disappointment but not a deal breaker in and of itself. However, this brings me to my second issue.

Turning this on High or Turbo produces a very noticeable whistling or whine. This noise is NOT the Plasmawave (that has a distinct chirping noise and is surprisingly hard to detect); it almost sounds like a bad fan or harmonics from moving so much air. Looking at the unit at max settings,...

2. Does its job, but product craftsmanship questionable. *Updated
As soon as we had this unit set up and running, we instantly noticed a change in the air quality within our 700 sq. ft. loft in the heart of downtown LA. While we would normally have to dust our furniture every other day to keep the dust at bay, with this unit, it became a once-a-week chore (if at that).

The unit IS very effective at removing dust particles, as well as odor in our place, despite its advertised space rating of 450 sq. ft. And as advertised, it IS indeed very quiet, although there is a bit of a buzzing noise from the PlasmaWave that others have mentioned in their reviews (this was not loud enough to be of concern, and I am well-known amongst my peers to be extremely sensitive to noise). In summary, I would say that the unit definitely functions beyond its advertised specifications.

Great air volume, simple to maintain.
I agree with the previous poster about the 'howl'. On high or turbo there is a high-pitched whine or howl that is annoying, but we only run on those settings when we are not at home, to clean the air for cooking odors, or if it is particularly dusty. The low setting is very quiet and the 'normal' setting barely noticeable.

We replaced a Kenmore electrostatic model that had a cleanable filter cell, and when the cell finally failed we chose this model for replacement. I believe it does a very good job and has the greater air handling volume we needed for our living room plus kitchen area. We also have a Kenmore non-electrostatic unit we moved to the living room (to attempt to replace the electrostatic model) but it did not clean the air as well as this P450 (the Kenmore couldn't knock down a dusty smell).

1. Affordable air purifier
I have owned this air purifier for about 5 years and it's still going strong, it's also not any louder than it was the day I bought it. The noise it produces is similar to a fan on a low setting, kind of a white noise so to speak. The filters are reasonably priced if you find them on sale-they are currently on sale for 29.99 (reg 39.99) & I replace them every 6 months. The carbon pre filter is much cheaper when bought from your local home improvement store, they sell sheets of carbon that you can cut to fit.

2. Hunter HEPAtech Air Purifiers
Great product, and helps breathing at night. Now I have 3 Hunter HEPAtech air purifiers in different sizes based on the room size. One large one handles the complete first floor.

Great purifier for the price
I've had this purifier for about 4 months now. It's been great! I have a cat in my small apartment so I use it to clean the air of cat litter dust and dander... because of the litter dust, I've already had to replace both the pre- and HEPA filter way before their time, but I guess that just means it's working. The pre-filter can can also be vacuumed or shaken out to clear the dust. The noise is minimal, but I'm used to having fans running in my room already... I would definitely recommend the Hunter 30057 as a cheap HEPA purifier.

Also note that it takes a while for the initial plastic smell of the parts to fade, several weeks in my case. If you have a sensitive nose, you may want to look elsewhere.

1. Works as advertised
We purchased two IQ Air (very large household air purifiers) before our relocation to Beijing China, and were at a loss as to what to do with the long commutes in Beijing's traffic. Found these Philips units here at Amazon and packed them as well. Well the unit works exactly as advertised -cleans the air to the extent that you can both see & smell the difference! The horrendously bad Air Quality Index -the US embassy famously called it "Crazy Bad", makes us very aware of what precautions the family can take to mitigate the risk. 2. Excellent product
This is an excellent product to use. My wife has severe issues with chemical smells and wouldn't use or get in my car unless it was absolutely necessary. Since getting the Philips GoPure filter, she has noticed a dramatic reduction in the smell and has started to use the vehicule. We'll worth the price I paid for it.

Great product, well made, looks great seems to do what it claims. probably would be more practical if a little smaller, does not turn off when ignition turned off so can be inconvenient.
